LexisNexis is a consumer reporting agency that supplies information to credit bureaus, insurance companies, lenders, landlords, and much more regarding the information listed on and off your credit report’s public record section. LexisNexis also compiles your data from many online databases, such as court records,

The purpose is twofold: to keep you safe by preventing fraud and verifying identity,

If you have evictions, have been sued, or owe property taxes, they will most likely know and provide it to the agency. LexisNexis has to adhere to the FCRA laws, and you can request any information reported about you through this company.

LexisNexis also states ”

“Due to the nature of the origin of public record information, the public records and commercially available data sources used in reports may contain errors. Source data is sometimes reported or entered inaccurately, processed poorly or incorrectly, and generally not defect-free. This product or service aggregates and reports data as provided by public records and commercially available data sources. It is not the data source nor a comprehensive compilation of the data. Before relying on any data, it should be independently verified.”

The company’s report may contain errors, and it is still up to the company to do its due diligence and verify its up-to-date and accurate information.

To avoid having incorrect or outdated information reported, such as sealed or expunged cases or old and outdated information, you should request your consumer report from all relevant agencies.

Except for employment, you do not have to be notified about the information used against you in your consumer report. You are notified after you are denied, and by then, it may be too late; it is better to know ahead of time before applying for an apartment, employment, or professional license.
